Business Networking and Systems Management Dr. Mahmoud Malik Abu Ara The department of Business Networking and Systems Management is considered one of the distinguished departments at the university. It combines two aspects of our practical life, namely, different fields of computer networks and information systems on one hand and business management on the other. This leads to the emerging of a new scientific branch of study that paves the building blocks of information systems, computer networks are considered to be the backbone of information systems, we focus on the implementation side of networking rather the design side. One of very few Hospital Management Departments across the country with a department of hospital management, our Department has evolved into a nationally recognized academic research, education, and consulting group, specializing in outcomes and health services research, undergraduate level and continuing Health Services Management and Hospital Management education, and customized training programs. Hotel and Tourism Management Dr. Rami Al-Tawil The Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at Philadelphia University was established in 1999-2000, the programme is committed to providing an excellent undergraduate education that incorporates management and business theories and practices in the tourism and hotel industry through coursework and industry interactions to meet the current trends in the hospitality industry. As a student, you will learn the concepts and techniques related to tourism, hotel and restaurant operations, international marketing, food preparation and service, financial analysis, accounting, front and back office operations. Students will also develop appropriate analytical and managerial competencies, which will enable them to respond to strategic issues, as well as developing their capacity to stimulate change in response to current and future developments. Arabic Language and Literature Dr. Ismail Qayam The Department of Arabic Language provides the students with all the necessary knowledge and skills needed for a student to master the Arabic language and have a comprehensive knowledge of Arabic literature. Graphic Design Prof. Mohamed Abdel Aal The Department was founded in 1999/2000 and includes a number of highly qualified and experienced teaching faculty and supporting technical assistants. Interior Design

Dr. Fida Salah The Department was founded in 2005/2006 and includes a number of highly qualified and experienced teaching faculty and supporting technical staff. The academic program, which totals 138 credit hours, includes university, college, and departmental compulsory and elective courses. They cover a wide variety of fields such as interior design studios, history and theory, technical drawing, free-hand drawing, digital design and drawing, color theory, ergonomics, materials, furniture, and technical services, etc. The library includes a large number of references, recent books, and periodicals covering interior design. The program was accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2006/2007. Support Courses Unit Dr. Yousef Abulaila The Department of Support Courses Unit, is a new Department established in 2011 as a combined unit of many departments in the University, and consists essentially from the Department of Human and Social Sciences, which started to operate since the beginning of teaching at the University in 1991. The main aim of the department is to present support courses in general knowledge and human and social sciences, aiming at building the students social skills. Development Studies Dr. Yousef Abulaila The Department of Development Studies was established in 2009, it includes four staff members, two holds Professorships, one associate professor and one assistant professor. The staff members are distinguished academics, their presence is noticed in the cultural and scientific circles locally, regionally and internationally, through their active participation in scientific conferences, cultural seminars, and activities with local communities The Human Development Reports published by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) indicate that development projects and programmes in Arab societies have failed over the last few decades. The prevailing international opinion in development-related studies asserts, through theories, methods and practical applications, that it is impossible for development to succeed unless it is taught, researched and applied as one area of specialty. In a comprehensive survey, we did not find any Bachelor-level program in Development Studies at any Arab university.

Philadelphia University must step in to fill this glaring gap in Arab higher education in the 21st century in order to help meet the needs of people and society—both in Jordan and the Arab world—on the basis of a new practical science. To this end, it is proposed that our university should offer a new, four-year (132 credit hours) academic program, leading to a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Development Studies.

Development studies, as a specialization, is unique in its utilization of naturally interrelated fields in the humanities and sociology, and it studies contemporary development through its three complementary fields: • Sociology • Economics • Politics Development studies also ties in these complementary fields with three supporting ones: • Culture • Communications • The Environment Development Studies shall be considered a separate academic specialty offered by the Department of Human and Social Sciences, which has been part of the Faculty of Arts since the founding of Philadelphia University, and which currently provides supporting academic services to all Philadelphia students by offering required University and Faculty courses. http://philadelphia.edu.jo/

The Electrical Engineering Department is considered as a pioneering department in the Engineering Faculty, the aim is to graduate highly specialized engineers to satisfy the needs of the local and international market. The department offers a bachelor degree (B.Sc) in Electrical Engineering on completion of 160 credit hours. The courses pursued by the graduate cover engineering and advanced technology fields. The courses develop the scientific level of the student and provide the abilities to interact with the requirements of the work market and to perform engineering design and development in the field of specialization.

The department was established in 1991. All theoretical courses are supported by scientific laboratories such as machines lab, measurements and instrumentation lab, control lab, communication and electronics lab, power lab and computers lab.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences The area of pharmaceutical sciences is involved in the study of the physicochemical properties of compounds and substances that are used in the development of pharmaceutical products in addition to the quality control of such substances according to the pharmacopeias and international laws. This area of science is also involved in the study of drug delivery systems and the development of smart delivery systems that are highly efficient in their therapeutic effect with minimal side effects. Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics is another important field of study in pharmaceutical technology which is involved in the study of various parameters related to the absorption, distribution, and elimination of drugs. Department of Nursing

Nursing is an art and science, a discipline with a unique body of knowledge upon which diagnosis and treatment decisions are made. The Faculty of Nursing at Philadelphia University believes that nursing students should be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to fulfill their professional role using modalities that encourage active learning with emphasis on caring for the individual, family and community in illness and wellness states.

The Faculty does not only seek to prepare students for professional career in the nursing field but also to encourage them to develop a higher sense of morality and social responsibility.
