The Complete Guide to Middle-earth is a reference book for the fictional universe of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, compiled and edited by Robert Foster
Originally published soon after the publication of The Silmarillion, it is generally recognised as excellent reference book on the subject. However, as it does not include info on post-Silmarillion material (i.e. Unfinished Tales and The History of Middle-earth series), in points it is in error.
A revised edition was published in 2001 in time for Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings (ISBN 0345449762).
