The Giant is a character in Farmer Giles of Ham, noted for his uglyness and deafness. At the beginning of the story, the Giant tramples Farmer Giles' fields, crops and cattle, including his beloved cow Galathea. After Giles shot at him with his blunderbuss, he ran off never to bother the town of Ham again.
