The Greatest Adventure, also known as The Ballad of The Hobbit, is a song written by Maury Laws (music) and Jules Bass (lyric) and performed by Glenn Yarbrough. It was the theme song for the 1977 film adaptation of The Hobbit. The full song plays during the night before the group's departure from the Shire, and excerpts reprise throughout the story.
