The Wold was the northernmost and least populated part of Rohan, lying between Fangorn Forest and the Anduin, and bordered to the north by the Limlight.

The main inhabitants were nomadic Men of Rohan who used the land to graze cattle.

King Eorl of the Rohirrim was killed in battle in the Wold.

During the War of the Ring, the third assault wave by Dol Guldur on Lothlórien was driven into the Wold, where the Ents from Fangorn Forest met them and destroyed them.
