Third Age 1998 (abbreviated to T.A. 1998) is the 1998th year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth. Third Age 1998 was also known as S.R. 398 in Shire-reckoning.
Notable events in this year include:
- Death of Steward Pelendur of Gondor.[1]
- Vorondil, son of Pelendur, becomes the steward of King Eärnil II.[1]
- The Stewardship becomes hereditary.[2]
