The Thrihyrne was a mountain with three peaks[1] with steep faces that looked like jagged horns[2] at the head of the deep gorge of Helm's Deep[1] on the northernmost arm of the White Mountains[2].
The Thrihyrne cast its shadow over the gorge of Helm's Deep.[3]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Thrihyrne is an Old English name,[4] which probably means "Three Horns"[5]. It is a combination of thri ("three") and hyrne ("horn", "corner", "angle").[4]
