Tolkien canon and TG canon policy (we need not decide anything, just discuss!)

Those present agreed that we, as Tolkien Gateway contributors, can not make the judgement about whether or not a particular concept is canon or not except in the most obvious cases. The grey areas are what they are and this should be explained and made clear in the article (perhaps through a "Canonicity" section). Those present agreed that the current canoncity templates should be scrapped, with the non-canon template remaining only for concepts that are undoubtedly non-canon (such as concepts from adaptations).

The failure of the "Countdown to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" was noted. The only thing agreed was that editors should focus on the sections that pertain to The Hobbit.
