LOTRO characters

Two things, really:-

1. I delinked things like "Narmaleth", "Edhelion" and "Duilond" because there was clearly no intention to create these pages; "Narmaleth" in particular has been sitting as a redlink for three years, which I think is completely unacceptable.
2. I don't think listing that someone has grey hair when the image immediately above clearly shows that anyone is tenable. I think there's already an issue vis-a-vis the length of infobox in relation to the length of article for most of these characters, and I don't want to see that made worse (which is why I have limited the width of it). --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 19:37, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Translations

I've tried to give some possible answers to your questions on Elvish translations here. Perhaps more knowledgeable people will now feel more tempted to offer their help! ;-) --Morgan 16:04, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Translating placenames and personal names has been a hobby of mine for a while, and maybe still is. I kinda disagree with your suggestion; UNDU suggests "going down" or "lower than X", not "low-lying". I would pick something with N. cofn, "deep, low-lying". I would also, for purely esthetic purposes, change the word order (a la Pays Bas instead of Netherlands). I'm not entirely sure on how to properly pluralize cofn, but I think *i Ndŷr Gufn or *Dôr Gofn are both closest to being correct. As for Leo... Do you want a translation for "Belgian Lion", "Netherlandish Lion" or "Dutch (theodisc) Lion"? --Ederchil ^{(Talk/Contribs/Edits)} 17:36, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Firstly, welcome to Tolkien Gateway Leandro.

After looking at the article I see that a link to the youtube channel has already been added.

You can upload images by this page (you can also find a link under Toolbox at the leftside).

Personally, I don't have much knowledge about Tolkien Societies. Could you please specify what information is incorrect. The information on Conselho Branco, Sociedade Tolkien seems to be good, but it needs to be sourced. I will add a {{fact}}-template and ask User:Morgan (the creator of the page) if he can take a look in the page and provide sources. Personally, I think the information that you added to The Brazilian Tolkien Society could stay at the article if sources are provided. But you have to discuss that with User:Ederchil (who removed the information).

Thank you so much for the information and your kind reply and help. Concerning the specific information is incorrect...on the Conselho branco Wiki Page, they said we were founded in 2000 but it is not true, also that they had the same name of our society, wich is impossible since we are up since 1997 and our name is a registered trademark since 1999 here in Brasil. I think that the information removed from our webpage was not necessary since it only said s few words about how we get here and etc. once Conselho Branco said unreliable things and still has that text on their page, I think since we were only talking things abobut our selves, it could be let there the way it was on our first edition, what you think? also Ederchil did not said why he did that. Logo

I cant upload an image, and cant find the tool on the left column to do that. I receive a message telling me that only Administrators can do that (or something like that) when I try to click on the link you just gave me. Hmm, that's strange. You should have permissions to upload files, I'm not an Adminstrator either but I can upload files. If you can give me the link of the image, I'll upload it.

Before uploading the image, I've one last question. On TG there is a policy that every file page has to include a license template, but I'm not sure under which licensing the trademark would fall. Could you take a look at Tolkien Gateway:File licensing templates, and tell me which licensing template I've to add. I guess it would be Permission granted, do you agree with that? Noncanon/adaptations

Hi Amroth! In my opinion it was very good that you differentiated between the "noncanon" concepts appearing in Tolkien's books and "noncanon" concepts from adaptations. I think it was really needed.--Morgan 15:05, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

But I have one suggestion: instead of "X that appear only in Adaptations, and not in the books." (which is ambiguous - which books?), I would rather writer "X that appear only in Adaptations, and not in Tolkien's texts.", or something like that.--Morgan 15:11, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

LOTRO servers

Hello Amroth. Do you agree on removing the mention of LOTRO server names under some Portrayal in Adaptations? It doesn't really fit there, in my opinion. A server name isn't really a portrayal, you know ;-) If you think it's useful to note the different server names, perhaps it would be better with a section in the main LOTRO article.--Morgan 18:27, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

I agree. This is not a portrayal in adaptations, no more than if I named my dog "Frodo" would that be a portrayal in a adaptation (although I would have more cause to do so as my dog would be a better Frodo than a server): this is trivia and it's not needed in these articles. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 09:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
