Hi! Maybe you can have a quick check at Great glow-worms. I'm especially thinking about what I wrote about their appearance in LOTRO, since I don't play the game myself (not yet, anyway, since my computer is too slow!). --Morgan 10:07, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Hello Pinkkeith! Would you have time to add something about any unique features of Celebrant as appearing in LOTRO? Otherwise I suggest we remove the section, since it doesn't add any value to the article. Thanks! --Morgan 00:29, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

LOTRO

Really great of you to do LotRO edits - afaik, none of us regulars are players. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 18:36, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm glad to help out. I have been into The Lord of the Rings ever since I first saw The Hobbit (1977 film). I read the books once or twice a year and I'm always finding some new discovery. I have been into video games for a long time as well and try to pick up every Middle-earth title that I can. LOTRO is by far one of the best ones out there. --Pinkkeith 19:17, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Twofold bother

Two things, really:

 1. I'm currently working on a better fairuse template for adaptations, which would include the official disclaimers. Could you get the Lotro's for me?
 2. Re: Sandbox. I did some scouring. Maybe interesting are (should be available at most university libraries, maybe mythlore is online on Muse:
 • Leslie Donovan, "The Valkyrie Reflex in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings: Galadriel, Shelob, Éowyn, and Arwen", in Tolkien the Medievalist (ed. Jane Chance)
 • Mac Fenwick, "Breastplates of Silk", Mythlore 81
 • Candice Fredrick and Sam McBride, "Women Among the Inklings" (maybe interesting background?), Contributions in Women's Studies, page 191
 • Doris Myers: "Brave New World: The Status of Women According to Tolkien, Lewis, and Charles Williams.", Cimarron Review 17 (1971 - perhaps a good example of early studies)
 • David Pretorius, Binary Issues and Feminist Issues in LOTR, Mallorn 40

Such an article on the wiki would be interesting, but rely heavily on secondary research rather than original. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 19:50, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

 1. I'm not sure what you are looking for regarding LOTRO disclaimers. Could you elaborate on what you are looking for?
 2. I actually have a Masters degree with concentration in gender studies, so this subject is interesting to me. Thanks for the references. I was trying to gather some together to make a good article. I have no idea how long it will take me. --Pinkkeith 20:02, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Let me elaborate what I mean with "disclaimers", then. The one for The Hobbit (2003 video game) looks like this:
"The Hobbit" interactive game (c) 2003 Vivendi Universal Games, Inc. All rights reserved. The Tolkien Enterprises logo, "The Hobbit", "The Lord of the Rings" and the characters, events, items and places therein, are trademarks or registered trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company, dba Tolkien Enterprises, and are used under license by Vivendo Universal Games, Inc.
Currently, all the fairuse templates are a mess, and probably not all correctly attributed. Including the texts of the official disclaimers might help a little. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 20:18, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Siege of Mirkwood

You're way smarter about lotro than I am, so I've got a quastion for you. I've seen Siege of Mirkwood being referred to as Book 9 of MoM and as its own title (LOTRO:SOM). Which is it? -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 22:07, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

LOTRO for free?

I read today on theonering.net that LOTRO might be free-to-play for everyone. Do you happen to know more about this? I bought the Shadows of Angmar cdrom some time ago, but I can't convince my wife that we should pay a fee each month (or she might, worse, convince me to start working full-time!). Thanks for any info and rumours! --Morgan 19:46, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Michael Tolkien, sr and jr

Always nice when someone thinks there is room for improvement, but ... Let me explain what I was doing and what my reasoning was.

It started when I noticed that on Michael (Hilary Reuel) Tolkien's family tree his son Michael was linked to "Michael Tolkien", which was a redirect to "Michael Hilary Reuel Tolkien" again! I then found out that all pages linking to "Michael Tolkien" were intending to link to Michael sr. - J.R.R. son - with the exception of the circular reference just mentioned. So I set out to achieve the following:

 1. All internal references to Michael sr. should point directly at his article, not at a redirect or a disambiguation page.
 2. Even though there was no page for Michael jr. - J.R.R. grandson - the redlinks for him should not point at a page used for Michael sr. as an article or redirect, and should all point at the same page.
 3. In all family trees where both occur, they should be indicated by visibly different names (and ideally either of them should be indicated by the same name in all trees where he occurs).

I decided on "Michael Tolkien" as the page for Michael sr.'s article, and on "Michael George Tolkien" as the page for Michael jr.'s article, since in all the discussions on the Tolkien family I've been in in the Tolkien societies I'm a member of they have been called by those names, and I thought best to follow established usage. To be frank, I don't object to your moving them again in order to distinguish them by year of birth and to create a disambiguation page, but in doing so you have ruined all of 1, 2 and 3 above. I wonder if you will now be doing all the work to re-establish them again? — Mithrennaith 03:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
