I have knowledge of your war-related articles for a while now and they are simply great. Congrats for you work! Thank you also for reminding me to vote for the FA nominations. All the best ! ~~ Þelma 12:59, 28 June 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for your kind words. That's me-- all war all the time.--Theoden1 15:59, 3 July 2008 (EDT)

Aldarion and Erendis: The Mariner's Wife

Morning! :) Thank you so much for the spelling corrections done to the article "Aldarion and Erendis: The Mariner's Wife". They were most useful. As for the rewords, I changed most of them back and I hope you'll forgive me for that. The reason I did so was that I try not to have the same word repeated too much at one point in the text, nor explain what is easily understood from a previous sentence. That's the manner in which I wrote the article's text (or at least tried :) ). But please, if you think those rewords are absolutely necessary, we can further talk about that. Have a good day ! :) ~~ Þelma 01:55, 7 July 2008 (EDT)

The rewords are mostly acceptable, but you should check the text of Unfinished Tales. You will see that the Council postponed the abdication for most of a year, so the abdication was not immediate. That's why I worded it that way. I have done some writing professionally, so I understand the need to vary words. Some of those were just style differences.--Theoden1 13:10, 7 July 2008 (EDT)
Oh, believe me, the UT text is very fresh in my mind. I am (re)reading the entire book again so I can complete the missing UT articles on TG. So it is not a case of "you should check". The abdication was delayed only until Erukyermë came, that is right in the begining of spring. Considering it was late autumn when Aldarion came back from his voyage, it is a small period of time until he became king (late autumn - begining of spring), so not a year. But I accept your observation. I will write that it was declared it in the "Synopsis" part of the article and mention him becoming king only in "Notes". ~~ Þelma 15:52, 7 July 2008 (EDT)

I was reading Wikipedia, and I noticed most of their articles also have sections "Objectives". Would inclusion of the objectives be handy? It would add some extra text, and some introduction to the actual battle. -- Ederchil 04:59, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

I looked as well, at accounts of several Middle Earth battles, and I don't see anything about objectives. Are you referring to real battles or some other fictional universe? Our general format, with infoboxes, is similar.--Theoden1 09:20, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Actual battles. It would really help as subsections of the "prelude" (or whatever it is called) section.
Oh, and I agree on the time Hyar takes to delete stuff. I found out asking him on the chat has more use than putting a delete template in. -- Ederchil 09:24, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

Hi! As you have seen, I'm expanding the Ecthelion article. I've comed across a point where I could use your war experience, if you feel like sharing it , of course. It was written (not by me) in the top section of the article that "He led a wing of Gondolin's forces during the Nirnaeth Arnoediad". Though it would seem reasonable, him being one of Turgon's lords, I can't find this information anywhere in the books...Can you please tell me if it is accurate and if so, where does it appear ? I need to reference it. Thank you in advance for your help. ~~ Þelma 15:14, 15 July 2008 (EDT)

I added the expansion tag for you, since I saw the article was in process. If you look in Silmarillion, in the Fifth Battle chapter, it mentions that Ecthelion and Glorfindel guarded the flanks of Turgon's retreating army after the battle was lost. It would be reasonable to cite it, and to put in a link to the Nirnaeth battle. By the way, how do you pronounce your name, and what is the letter it begins with? Is it Icelandic or Norwegian or something?--Theoden1 16:27, 15 July 2008 (EDT)
Thank you for your answer.:) I modified the article to include the Nirnaeth reference. " Þelma " is Quenya for "fixed idea, will". It is also a sign of ...loyalty to Fëanor (here we go back to your least favorite elf :]] ). In the Vanyarin Quenya, some words began with "Þ" , like, for instance, his mother's name was Þerinde, but we now know her as Serinde, because the Noldor changed the "Þ" into an "S". They had this habbit of changing more complicated (groups of) letters into simpler ones. :)) Basically, the two letters are pronounced almost the same way, but "Þ" has the tip of the tongue right behind the upper teeth and not behind the lower set of teeth (as you'd have it when pronouncing a normal "S"). Fëanor opposed this change in the chapter "The Shibboleth of Fëanor" (normally, who would like to have his mother's name changed for comfort of pronounciation?). So this is the history of my name. :) ~~ Þelma 17:42, 15 July 2008 (EDT)

Use of Copyrighted Images

Hi Theoden1. I have just found you have uploaded a picture of Fingolfin without the required permission of the artist. I am the artist and you have never contacted me regarding this image or any other. Furthermore, your comment states the picture is from a ME Card-game and we both know this is not the case. Do you think this is the right way to do things? Could you please tell me what happened?? --Breogán 16:27, 15 July 2008 (EDT)
