The early versions of the Legendarium included the notion of a land in the uttermost east of Arda.
In the Ambarkanta, the Eastern Land, known to the Elves of Aman as the Land of the Sun or the Burnt Land of the Sun, was a land east of Middle-earth where the Sun rose at dawn.
Little was known of its geography. There was a great, curve-shaped mountain range called the Wall of the Sun, that corresponded symmetrically to the Pelóri Mountains of Aman..
