(Redirected from Aldar)

alda is a noun meaning "tree" in Quenya.[1] The genitive plural is aldaron.[2] Compare with galadh in Sindarin.

Alda is also the name in Quenya of the twenty-eighth letter of the Tengwar alphabet.[1] In written Quenya Alda is used for LD. In other modes this letter represents voiceless L (or LH).[3] The Westron name for this letter is Lhó.[4]

Etymology

The word derives from the Primitive Quendian root GALÁD.[5]
