Carnimírië

From Tolkien Gateway

Carnimírië was one of the rowans of Fangorn Forest, much beloved by the Ent Bregalad. It was cut down by Orcs of Isengard, arousing the anger of this impulsive Ent.[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

In a letter, Tolkien explained that carnemírië means "with adornment of red jewels" in High-elven (Quenya).[2] In another manuscript he explained the name as the abstract form of carni-mírea ("red-jeweled").[3]
