HI everyone. I have become interested in obtaining a copy of the work entitled Akalabeth aboutthe story of the downfall of the kingdom of Numenor . The story and history surrounding the rise and fall of Ar- Pharazon leader( king of Numenor) is an interesting notion as the true downfall of the Men of the West was a consequence of Ar Parazons desire to rid the world of Sauron and conquer the Elfin lands . The intervention of Manwe to break the world and sink the Numeroean lands was interesting as the downfall of or the birth of the Atlantean myth and was an intrigueing thought to research . As an ex English literature major studying at American University I was emersed in the LOTR saga years ago and the writings of Christopher Tolkien are what seems to be a contnuation of his fathers epic saga. Is there any one that has a access to the book entitled the Akallabeth and or is it just a chaper of the Silmarillion which I already own. I was hyoping for a lot more detailed insight into this intrigueing part of Numenorean lore. Len Balon - —Unsigned comment by Njwrstlr (talk • contribs).
- There is no one book of the Akallabêth. It's related in The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and even in several parts of The History of Middle-earth. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 19:18, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Let me clarify a bit Ederchil's answer. Indeed there is no book called "Akallabeth". It is one of the parts of Silmarillion, and occurs right after the proper Silmarillion part. Just see your book's contents :) Unfinished Tales doesn't contain parts of the Akallabeth but provides more information on Numenor and her Kings.
- I think The History of Middle-earth books have early versions of the Akallabeth narrative Sage 08:21, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
