Forum:Elmerion does it have any meaning?

Tolkien Gateway > Council > Elmerion does it have any meaning?

Hi, some years ago before reading The Lord of the Rings i came up with the name Elmerion, i use to use it on mmorpg like Lineage 2 and runescape, some years after i read the LOTR and i noticed it haves a resemblance with other names like Eldarion, so.. can any of you tell me if it has any meaning in any of the LOTR languages? None that I know of. Eldarion means "Scion of the Eldar". In Elmerion, El could mean either "star" or "elf", mer could mean "desire" from mer- or "feast" from mer(e)n. Ion means "son".
This forum actually isn't the place for such questions (we still need to get some rules whipped up). I can recommend this site, though. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 08:45, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
