Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know Merri, from our friends at, has been working on a new skin for us, something which would give us a bit more of a Tolkien theme. What do you guys think?

It still needs some tweaking but feel free to let me know anything at all you would like changed. Hopefully if everyone thinks it is better than the current skin we can see about making it the default. --Hyarion 00:53, 8 February 2008 (EST)

It has definite potential. I personally prefer tabs and such to floating boxes, but that's a matter of taste I guess. I really like the top bar with the mountains and sky; that's a definite positive. The green border makes the top look a little too thick, but that may be also because of how the Title is dropped below the talk, etc. buttons. I like the side pillars and dragons, but I think they don't have to be so prominent. Are the graphics from a John Howe painting? --Narfil Pal├╣rfalas 09:52, 8 February 2008 (EST)
I've now submitted Hyarion the new final version, I don't know when he gets it officially and finally running, but it is pretty much ready to rock. I adjusted the colors of the pillars to be much more grey than green, I found the green to be disturbing. Also, the buttons are smaller now with different color (and I hope better). I'm not so sure how well it works with IE6 though as it is now, I'm not sure if the IE6 specific fixes that I made got in with what I submitted to Hyarion... if someone complains, it'll probably mean a fix is in order. --Merri 20:19, 11 March 2008 (EDT)
Since it now sounds like the official announcement of Del Toro directing The Hobbit is coming in a matter of days I think I'll wait and launch the new skin on that day. --Hyarion 14:33, 20 April 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Bug

Hi I've found a bug in this skin. In trialing the 'Insert Tengwar' box i've found that it does not load in this skin, however it does on monobook and the site default. Has something been leftout on this skin which doesn't load the users own javascript and/or css pages.-- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  18:43, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
