I've often wondered as to how specifically Thror met his fate.Did the Orcs become aware of his presence and as he was wandering around the Mines of Moria, ambush him,and kill him there? Was he captured, brought before Azog, bound to a stake, and run through? Did the Orc chieftain hold a mock trial, accompanied by ridicule, and laughter, torture the old dwarf, brand the runes into his forehead, and then having him bound, forced him onto his knees over a block and behead him then?Sounds like a horrible and lonely way for an old dwarf to die. —Unsigned comment by Hans (talk • contribs).
- Short answer: Tolkien never wrote it down (at least, as far as we know). Let's leave the rest for the fanfic writers, shall we? -- Ederchil 03:04, 16 July 2008 (EDT)
