Oatbarton was a town or village in the Northfarthing of the Shire. The Northway led from Oatbarton to the East Road.
The element -barton, common in English place-names (Old English: beretun "barley-town") means "outlying grange, demesne farm", therefore the place was related to a large oat-farm.
