Pippin Looks After Merry is the forty-sixth scene of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and the fifty-seventh scene of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (extended edition). It was extended in the latter edition.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Merry searches for Merry. He finds him lying, half-conscious, near a slain Oliphaunt. Pippin pushes off a dead orc that had fallen on Merry and sits him up. Merry wakes up and tells Pippin he knew he'd find him and then asks if Pippin is going to leave him to which Pippin responds, "No Merry. I'm going to look after you."

Differences[edit | edit source]

  • Pippin was sent by Gandalf to look for Merry.[1] He searched inside the city, finding him inside the Gate of Minas Tirith.[2]
  • Merry asked, "Are you going to bury me?" and Merry responded "No, indeed!...No, we are going to the Houses of Healing."[2]
