History
Reginard was the son of Adelard Took. He was present at Bilbo's Farewell Party.[1]
Etymology
J.R.R. Tolkien noted that it was a custom in the Took family to use high-sounding names and that he turned them into old names of Frankish and Gothic origin.[2] The name Reginard contains ragin "counsel" and hard "strong".[3]
