History
Sigismond was the son of Hildibrand Took. He had two children, Rosamunda and Ferdinand.[1]
Etymology
J.R.R. Tolkien noted that it was a custom in the Took family to use high-sounding names and that he turned them into old names of Frankish and Gothic origin.[2] The name Sigismond contains sigis ("victory") and mund ("hand" "protection").[3]
