" perhaps (as the name implies) of the upper class" -- I would remove this explanation by Foster. Goold is a very old Anglo-Saxon name, and it might derive from the colour of hair or an occupation as a gilder - or anything. But why especially "upper class"? --Tik 16:50, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

Perhaps because Menegilda is a heroic germanic name (many+battle), and married to the Master of Buckland. But your point about the meaning of Goold might be correct, and shouldn't be an indication by itself. Sage 06:51, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
