Talk:Locations
From Tolkien Gateway
I really don't understand how you edit this sort of page. Could someone explain, please? --Narfil Palùrfalas 07:44, 8 December 2006 (EST)
- This type of page is referred to as a "Portal" on Wikipedia, though on here Hyarion prefers to call them "Gateways". He's been wanting to put them up for a while, and he's just now started; there will be one each for the Locations and Peoples of Arda; and probably a lot more as time goes on. Portals give a person an introduction to a number of issues surrounding a certain topic; they are like categories but more far-reaching (and cooler looking too...). You can read more about what they are for, and how they are edited, on Wikipedia: About Portals. —Tar-Telperien 13:58, 8 December 2006 (EST)
- It may look complicated but you don't really need to worry about the table syntax. Just look for the text you'd like to change and play around with it by using show preview. If it gets to be too much text in there I'll include sub articles directly. --Hyarion 14:14, 8 December 2006 (EST)
I really like the new Template for Locations. Good job fellas.--Dwarf Lord 14:44, 9 December 2006 (EST)
