The Book of Lost Tales[edit source]

As I understand it The Book of Lost Tales is the title of a bona fide 'work' by Tolkien: where he attempted to tie his tales of the First Age together into one volume with the frame story of Eriol (but never finished it). This article should probably be about that, with links to the chapters in HoME which are semi-quasi-subtly different (because they're not a 'work' but a collection of drafts and commentary by CJRT on that work. And they're split in two in an editorial decision), rather than just a disambig. —Aulë the Smith (Tk·Cb) 10:43, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

But this is a disambiguation page... for disambiguating? Disambiguation page are meant to contain nothing other than the disambiguation. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 11:23, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It would be moved to The Book of Lost Tales, obviously, which currently redirects here. —Aulë the Smith (Tk·Cb) 11:26, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Old disambiguation[edit source]

Do we need an article for The Book of Lost Tales as a concept as opposed to the two publications? We have a lot of articles that link here. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 10:36, 2 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think yes. "The Book of Lost Tales" is one concept and as a name refers to that version of the legendarium. Sometimes we have to refer to this concept, not to a specific tome. Sage 22:37, 2 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Agreed. I've often had to link to this disambig page, when I would rather have preferred to link to an article about the concept itself.--Morgan 23:54, 2 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Could one of you chaps do it - I think you two would write a better than I would. I would likely create a pretty worthless stub. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 09:56, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sure, I'll put it on my work list.--Morgan 18:34, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
