telepi[1], telpe[2] (or telpë[3]), and telep-[2], are Telerin words for "silver".

In a letter, Tolkien stated that the form telepi derives from Primitive Elvish kyelepē.[1]
Christopher Tolkien has noted that telpe, telep- derive from root KYELEP.[2]
