The Tolkien Gateway logo is an important aspect of the site as it is the first image that comes to mind when the website is mentioned. It is also seen on every single page throughout the site and is used many times when linking to the wiki. Because of this, the logo should represent us fully and not only sum up our work but be unique in identifying the subject.
The Tolkien Society has brought to our attention that the logo is copyrighted by the Tolkien Estate and to keep on terms with both organizations I think it imperative that we update the logo to something which will please us as well as not infringing on any copyrights.

June 7, 2006 - In case you haven't noticed, PyroMithrandir has been kind enough to provide us with a new, non-copyrighted logo, which I for one love.
