Tulkastor was the father of Vairë, an Elf of Tol Eressëa; he was also the grandfather of Naimi, and an ancestor of Heorrenda. Vairë became the wife of Lindo, the keeper of the Cottage of Lost Play.[2]
The Gnomish form of his name was Tulchathron.[3]

Originally the name of the character was Turenbor, later changed to Tulkassë and finally to Tulkastor.[4]
