Túrin's description is simply the opposite of what he actually knows Nienor to be like (tall, fair-haired,...) and doesn't particularly match what we know of Lalaith.

The index of The Lord of the Rings was not written by J.R.R. Tolkien. You can learn some information about the index by reading the Note on the text and the introductory text of the Index of the 50th anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings, which even explicitly says "Compiled by Christina Scull & Wayne G. Hammond". They only say that they also have "referred to the index, that Tolkien himself began to prepare during 1954, but which he left unfinished after dealing only with place names". Christina Scull & Wayne G. Hammond do not quote an entry for "Nameless Things" from J.R.R. Tolkien's unfinished index that was prepared by Nancy Smith for him and reviewed by him [[Unfinished index]]. The entry in the index in the 50th anniversary edition does not say "Nameless" (the term that you used in your edit), but says "Nameless, gnawing things" followed by the page number, which is the page where Gandalf calls them "nameless things". Since the nameless things are not a placename, it is probable that they were not included in the unfinished index that was reviewed by J.R.R. Tolkien. Also, generally reliable sources, such as Michael Martinez's middle-earth.xenite.org and Mark Fisher's The Encyclopedia of Arda call them "Nameless Things". :::There actually is a shot of the exterior of the [[Hall of Lore]] before the interior is shown. It is shown in a wide shot for a few moments from two angles when Captain Elendil and Galadriel are just riding up to the overhang that it lies upon. There are also some shots of it in the behind the scenes video for that episode, which is six minutes long, so it would likely be easier to find the shots that I am referring to in there. However, the best shot in my opinion is at the absolute beginning of Scene 29 and the time stamp is at 29:50/39:32. You would know that it is the right shot if the subtitles are just beginning to bleed the sound of "hammering" from the next shot. As for the [[King's Tower]], there are multiple great exterior shots of it. In fact, in episode three, there is a night shot of it in the "Episode Stills" section of the "Bonus Content" tab of the X-ray feature that can be accessed within the episode. It is not centered, but perhaps you could go to that shot where the time stamp is at 57:33 just immediately before it cuts to Miriel walking up the stairs of the tower. There may be better shots of it, but this is a start. On a side note, when you upload the images to the wiki, I do think that they should be called "Hall of Lore" and "King's Tower" respectively. In addition, I just found a shot of the [[Watchtower of Ostirith]] that may be better than the current one. It is in episode four and the time stamp is 18:58/52:45. It shows the Watchtower from the other side, which includes not only the tower and the top bridge, but also the pathway carved into the two hills and the two bridges “below” the top bridge. Perhaps the current image of it could be replaced by the shot I just mentioned as there is only room on the [[Watchtower of Ostirith]] page for one image. There is also a concept art section on the X-Ray feature. Those should perhaps be on the wiki as well. I hope that all of this helps. :The redlinks were an oversight on my part. Thanks for bringing them to my attention. I will change the links to go to the proper page. As for moving the current page, I have no plans on making a move proposal as the name of the page itself does not matter and I see nothing wrong with the current name since it is still a name that was given to the character and the name is still mentioned in the Portrayal in adaptations section, so the name truly is “accurate” in a way. All that matters is the content of the page. However, if you want to make a proposal to the “[[Authorities]]” (this is a joke), or to the admins of the site, or to the [[User:Hyarion|site-creator]], go on ahead, but do not mention me because I am not going to make such a proposal myself because the current name is fine in my opinion.

Massive, often ferocious beasts, their legs were like trees, their bodies were larger than a house, they had enormous sail-like ears, and they had a long snout like a huge serpent.<ref name=Herbs>{{TT|Herbs}}, pp. 661-662</ref> Somehow the Haradrim tamed them and the result was possibly the most brutally effective beast of war that Middle-earth ever saw.

The Haradrim strapped towers on the backs of these beasts and rode on them into battle. The ''mûmak'' itself, enraged and goaded by its cruel Haradrim masters, would charge through the enemy, trampling archer, swordsman and horse beneath its massive feet.<ref name=Herbs/>

Killing a ''mûmak'' was almost impossible - its rough, leathery hide made arrows relatively harmless.<ref name=Herbs/> Horses had a natural fear of the ''mûmakil'' so even the most skilled horsemen could not get close enough to strike at its great, trunk-like legs. The only known way to defeat an oliphaunt was to shoot it in the eye, which typically meant standing in front of it as it charged the archer, and thus a very difficult task to perform.<ref name=Battle>{{RK|Battle}}, pp. 843, 846 and 849</ref>

Due to their habitation in the far south, oliphaunts were creatures of legend to the inhabitants of the [[Westlands]]. The [[Hobbits]] had an old [[Oliphaunt|poem]] about oliphaunts,<ref>{{AB|Preface}}</ref> which [[Samwise Gamgee]] recited to [[Gollum]] in [[Ithilien]].<ref name=Gate>{{TT|Gate}}, p. 646</ref>

On [[7 March]] {{TA|3019}}<ref>{{App|Great}}, entry for the year 3019, March 7, p. 1093</ref> [[Faramir]] led the [[Rangers of Ithilien]] on an ambush against a contingent of Haradrim marching north. This battle was witnessed by [[Frodo Baggins]] and Sam, and they saw an oliphaunt in full charge. The maddened animal had smashed its war-tower in its rush through the woods; unguided it trampled soldiers of both sides until it disappeared from view.<ref name=Herbs/>

Eventually the great beasts were defeated as the forces of the West won the battle, but both [[Derufin]] and [[Duilin (son of Duinhir)|Duilin]], the sons of [[Duinhir]] of [[Morthond]] were trampled when they led their archers to shoot at the eyes of the oliphaunts.<ref name=Battle/>

The english word ''oliphant'' is derived from Old French ''olifant''. The ''o'' is probably derived from [[Old English]] ''olfend'' ("elephant") or from Old High German ''olbenta'' ("camel").<ref name=Nomenclature/>

Oliphant/olifant/olifaunt had been archaic words for elephant and their ivory. The most famous use of the oliphant (as in horn) is in ''[[wikipedia:The Song of Roland|The Song of Roland]]'' "The oliphant is set to Roland's Lips"; Roland fails to call for help at the Battle of Roncevaux in 778 until it is too late for him and his comrades.

[[Gandalf]] mentions elephants once in ''[[The Hobbit]]''<ref>{{H|2}}</ref> so perhaps "oliphaunt" is a [[Hobbitish]] corruption of this original word. But whether these two creatures are the same cannot be said with certainty.
