==Synopsis==
The two hobbits barely escape the destruction of the [[Sammath Naur]], with [[Sam]] half-dragging [[Frodo]] out through the doorway. They find a raised boulder for what they believe will be their final respite. Frodo, no longer weighed down with the burden of the [[The One Ring|Ring]], exclaims ''"It's done"''. He lays down, with a sea of molten lava surrounding them, and closes his eyes. ''"I can see [[The Shire]]"'', he says. Sam looks on, and reminisces about the life he could have had, had he not left The Shire with Frodo on the quest that led them to [[Mordor]]. He speaks of [[Rosie Cotton]], and weeps as he says ''"If ever I was to marry someone... it would have been her."'' Frodo gets up, wraps an arm around Sam's shoulder, and says ''"I'm glad to be with you Samwise Gamgee. Here at the end of all things"''. The screen fades to black for a few seconds.

As Frodo and Sam lie on a large boulder awaiting death in the fiery cataclysm, Gandalf, upon [[Gwaihir]], flies towards them, with two other eagles. The eagles take Frodo and Sam from the large rock. A dazed Frodo looks around before his eyes slowly close.

The [[Corsairs of Umbar]] pass by the shore where [[Aragorn]], [[Legolas]], [[Gimli]] stand. Aragorn demands that they stop, declaring that they may not enter [[Gondor]]. They laugh at him, and ask "Who are you to deny us passage?" Aragorn tells Legolas to fire a warning shot, Gimli nudges [[Bow of the Galadhrim|Legolas's bow]]. The arrow hits on of the men and Gimli tells them to prepare to be boarded. The leader laughs and asks, "You and whose army". Aragorn responds, "This army" and the [[Oathbreakers]] come out from the mountain and charge the ship.

Legolas and Gimli recounted the events of this scene in [[The Last Debate]]

Merry and Pippin run through the forest, followed by Grishnákh. Grishnákh finally catches up to Merry and attempts to "make a maggot hole in [his] belly". Pippin climbs to a tree, that is revealed to have eyes. [[Treebeard]] dispatches Grishnákh and grabs both hobbits, mistaking them for orcs, whom Treebeard claims to be destructive. The hobbits succeed in convincing Treebeard of their nature, and then Treebeard leaves the hobbits on the floor, next to a white wizard.
