Reception
In a review for Other Minds 28, Thomas Morwinsky found this to be best source book to date, that it was “definitely
worth the long wait”, and that it compared well against the Moria publications for Middle-earth Role Playing and The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game. His sole point of critique is that the notion of Dwarves aiding in the forging of the Rings of Power, while possible, did not seem all that plausible to him.
His sole point of critique is that the notion of Dwarves aiding in the forging of the Rings of Power, while possible, did not seem all that plausible to him.
A version for The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, titled Keepers of the Elven-rings, was also released.
From the publisher
{{blockquote|In the twilight of the Third Age, three realms of the West-elves still endure in Middle-earth. By the power of the Three Rings, they exist as a testament to a time that was. But not only the Elves remember. As Sauron gathers his strength to bring war to Middle-earth once again, he plans a devious vengeance against those who humbled him long ago.
Realms of the Three Rings™ is a supplement for The One Ring™, the official tabletop roleplaying game based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
* Chapter 1: Where The West-elves Still Linger describes the realms of Lórien, Rivendell and Lindon and those who dwell there, including the Elf-lords who are their guardians.
* Chapter 2: The Days Darken provides the Loremaster with details about Sauron’s schemes against the Immortal Folk, including possible events, Adversaries, and Loremaster characters.
* Chapter 3: Landmarks outlines twelve sites of interest, including locations mentioned in The Lord of the Rings™ and others created specifically for the game.
Background
While writing the book, Quaglia had to carefully avoid taking material from The Silmarillion, for which they had no rights, while also making sure that nothing conflicted with it, a process which he described as complicated.
Reception
In a review for Other Minds 28, Thomas Morwinsky awarded the book a perfect score, finding that it upheld the high production quality of the series, while increasing both the quantity and quality of world-building. In particular, he praised Quaglia's expertise concerning even minute details of the source material, as well as his ability to hint at lore for which there was no license.
In a review for Other Minds 19, Thomas Morwinsky praised the book's production quality and lack of any lore inconsistencies, but felt disappointed that by trying to cover as many bases as possible far beyond Erebor itself, the supplement treats many of its interesting topics with very little depth.
The Second Edition of The One Ring is now set in the lone-lands of Eriador, in the year 2965 of the Third Age, moving the focus of the game to the lands of Old Arnor, with a full description of the town of Bree, including also famous locales like Weathertop, Fornost and Annuminas, providing the players with a new starting point for their adventures.
Game system
Standard 12-sided dice can be used, counting 11 as Sauron, and 12 as Gandalf, and standard 6 sided dice as well.
Reception
In a review for Other Minds 18, José Enrique Vacas de la Rosa thought it was a beautifully illustrated standalone book, but noted the lack of integration with other supplements. He enjoyed most of the three adventures, but was less enthused about the Oakmen of the third adventure, describing them as a sort of evil Hobbits that did “not blend smoothly enough in the setting.”
Official description
{{Blockquote|Children kidnapped in the night, unusually cunning Trolls, a mysterious caravan, the fate of a company of Hobbits, the legacy of the Dúnedain and an evil awakening beneath the barrows – six new stories set in the ancient land of Eriador. Six adventures that need a company of heroes to undertake them.

Ruins of the North contains six ready-to-play adventures, complete scenarios that can be played separately or as an epic series spanning a number of years. All adventurers are set in the years prior to 2977, and take place in the lands surrounding Rivendell.

Ruins of the North complements the background and rules material contained in Rivendell, the latest supplement for The One Ring Roleplaying Game based upon The Hobbit™ and The Lord of the Rings™.
Reception
In a review for Other Minds 17, Thomas Morwinsky had mixed feelings about Ruins of the North, finding that despite some great atmospheric scenarios being included, “the deficits in Middle-earth lore spoil the fun somewhat”. These include the return of the Witch-king to Angmar, while Glorfindel said that “he will not return to this land”, a Dúnadan mansion in the Weather Hills though Aragorn stating that “the Men of the West did not live here”, as well as an overuse of mannish undead that reminded him unfavourably of similar usage in Middle-earth Role Playing.

Reception
In a review for Other Minds 17, while José Enrique Vacas de la Rosa still recommended buying Rivendell, he found the book less satisfying than previous supplements, arguing that it tried to split its limited page count between lore and new mechanics. He also found that the coverage of the White Council's handling of Dol Guldur contradicted Appendix B.
The Darkening of Mirkwood is a complete campaign for The One Ring, set in Mirkwood over the course of three decades. It allows you to tell your own epic saga, following your heroes in their quest as the tale of years unfolds before them.
This supplement includes enough adventure material to keep you playing for months or even years, as well as new rules that give your heroes a real stake in what happens to the world around them. Visit the Parliament of Spiders, do battle with the Nazgûl, meddle in the affairs of Wizards and enter the Halls of King Thranduil. Stand firm against the Shadow and maybe the Darkening of Mirkwood can be averted. Falter for even a moment and all that you know and love will be lost.}}
Reception
In a review for Other Minds 17, Thomas Morwinsky found The Darkening of Mirkwood “a really impressive piece of work, […] exemplary on how you can build an entire campaign on just one of Tolkien’s many frameworks”, while noting a handful of minor lore issues. The first is the “body hopping” of a villainous Maia werewolf, which he felt was treated as something easily achievable, and thus contradicted what Tolkien wrote on the subject. The other is the appearance of a mysterious Hunter, considered by Morwinsky to be quite clearly intended to be interpreted as Oromë, which would conflict with Tolkien’s portrayal of the Valar and Maiar refraining from direct intervention in Middle-earth after the First Age.
The One Ring: Adventures over the Edge of the Wild is the core set for the first edition of The One Ring role-playing game. The boxed set was the first release for the game system, and includes a Loremaster's Book, an Adventurer's Book, two maps, and dice.

In 2014, Cubicle 7 Entertainment released a revised edition of the game containing all the rules and background needed for play in a single 320-page hardback volume. This revised core rule book was simply titled The One Ring Roleplaying Game and it was completely compatible with all existing game material.

From the back
Reception
In a review for Other Minds 13, Neville Percy found that the game set itself apart from earlier efforts by being designed from the ground up as a Middle-earth role-playing game and by fostering a “narrative and collaborative style of play.”
In The Lord of the Rings Online: Mordor, Seregost appears as a fortress in the swamps of the Agarnaith region. In the game's narrative, it served as the primary stronghold of Lhaereth, a poison brewer who engineered the Great Plague. Given the appropriateness of the name, it is possible that the developers coined the name independently from Reeve.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War
In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Seregost is adapted as a snow-covered mountain region in Mordor, centred around the fortress Khargukor. The developers likely followed the merchandise map, also adapting Nan Ungol.

Fan works
The fansite Thelandofshadow.com took on several of the names introduced by Reeve, and expanded on them. Seregost was described as follows:

The fansite being more easily accessible than Decipher's sourcebooks, as well as being cited by Middle-earth Role Playing fans for the fan-made Mordor Gazetteer, likely caused it to be mistakenly thought of as the original source of Seregost and other new names.
The fansite being more easily accessible than Decipher's sourcebooks, as well as being cited by Middle-earth Role Playing fans for the fan-made Mordor Gazetteer, likely caused it to be mistakenly thought of as the original source of Seregost and other new names.

adaptationSeregost is a place in Mordor that appears in several adaptations. It is Sindarin for "blood fortress", from sereg ("blood") + ost ("fortress").

Chronology and Creation
The name was originally created by cartographer and calligrapher Daniel Reeve while working on licensed map assets for the film trilogy and related merchandise.

Its first appearance is in the Maps of Middle-earth map set for Decipher's The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game, where it appears as a minor label on the map of Mordor without further exposition. Reeve subsequently used the Decipher map as a foundational template when tasked with designing the expanded commercial merchandise map for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

In further adaptations
The Lord of the Rings Online
