Since Lúthien chose to be mortal, didn't she die an Edain? --Ebakunin 17:37, 30 June 2006 (EDT)

:Actually "the Edain" referred only to a group of men, not men as a whole (which you probably knew, but oh well). Just because Lúthien chose mortality does not mean she "becomes" a man. That is my opinion anyway. --Narfil Palùrfalas 21:11, 30 June 2006 (EDT)

::I did some quick research and we were both wrong. Half-elven comes from mixing Men and Elves only, since they have conflicting fates. Even though her mother was a Maia and she later became mortal, Lúthien was sill considered one of the Eldar. It was Beren that started to complicate everything. --Ebakunin 22:04, 30 June 2006 (EDT)

She was said to be the fairest maiden to have ever lived (a description later shared also by Arwen).

The parenthesis is not quite correct, is it? Lúthien is described "And of the love of Thingol and Melian there came into the world the fairest of all the Children of Ilúvatar that was or shall ever be." This strikes me as an absolute statement.
Arwen, however, is described (in regards to her foremother) as "but a descendant very like her in looks, character, and fate" and "in whom it was said that the likeness of Lúthien had come on earth again". But not as being as fair as Lúthien. I'd like to propose a change to something to that.
:I see someone edited it so now it's "She was said to be the fairest maiden to have ever lived, a beauty that would appear again only millennia later on Arwen." I don't think that's grammatically or factually correct. I'd like to remove the mention of Arwen entirely, as that should be on Arwen's page, not Lúthien's. If anyone can think of why not, let me know and we can discuss. --HitherShores (talk) 08:48, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
