:It's just a quote. Wherever it's used it should be cited as to it's source, which is probably FOTR. You shouldn't use it for a profit making activity without getting permission from the Tolkien Estate or the applicable publisher. ::As long as we're only quoting a small fragment of the book and using it for educational purposes then it is considered fair use. There really isn't a strict point at which a quote becomes too long so we just have to be careful, the Ring quote should be fine. In the article it says that when Durin III fell, his ring was lost with him. I thought that this was the same ring that was retaken by Sauron from Thrain II, am I wrong? Also, doesn't Gandalf once say "Three he has recaptured, and the others the dragons have consumed."

I just want to hear what others have to say about why Sauron wants to reclaim the rings.
