Ainairos was an Elf of Valinor, according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales.[1]

History

Ainairos was one of the Solosimpi that escaped the Kinslaughter at Alqaluntë in which his brother was killed. As the result of this, he, along with many of his people, became bitter and resentful toward the Noldoli.

When Manwë summoned the Valar and the Elves to a council about the final path of the Sun and the Moon, Ainairos was the one to speak against the Exiles and for the concealment of Valinor, and the most that were gathered there agreed with him, desiring neither Melko nor the Noldoli to return.[1]

Etymology

According to Paul Strack, both Ainairos and Oivárin (an earlier name for the character[2]) seem to be in Solosimpilin, however, their meaning is unclear.[3]
