Almáriel was a girl in Númenor according to the early version of the legendarium in The Lost Road.
She was a peer of Herendil, who complained to his father Elendil that he was barely of height to her shoulder, despite being of the same age. It is unknown if she joined Herendil's other peers in calling him names such as Terendul ("slender and dark") and accusing him of being a "half-Noldo."[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Almáriel is clearly Quenya, having the elements almarë ("blessedness, blessings, good fortune, bliss"),[2][3] and perhaps -iel ("daughter").[4]
