ampa is a noun meaning "hook" in Quenya.[1]
Ampa is also the name in Quenya of the fourteenth letter of the Tengwar alphabet.[1] It is the second letter of the fourth grade or Tyellë, which contains "voiced spirants", and it is the fourth letter of the series of labial consonants, the Parmatéma.[2] In standard Quenya spelling Ampa represents MP[1] but in all other modes it represents V.[2] The Westron name for this letter is Ivi.[3]
