Angelo Montanini (b. 21 May 1951[1]) is an Italian Tolkien-inspired artist.

Career

While he had been an artist before, Montanini attributes his focus on fantasy art to Angus McBride. He began working for Stratelibri, an Italian games publishing house in 1993, even serving as its art director until 1999. The company's founder, Giovanni Ingellis, recommended Montanini to Iron Crown Enterprises. This led to him creating over one hundred illustrations for their games. He also created calendar illustrations for the Italian Tolkien Society.[1]

Montanini taught drawing and illustration in the European Fashion School of Milan.[2]
