Aranwë (Q, pron. [aˈranwe] was an Elf of the House of Fingolfin.
It is possible that he was a nobleman of Gondolin, because of the meaning of his name and because his son Voronwë came from Gondolin.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Aranwë is a Quenya name. Its meaning is not glossed, but Paul Strack suggests it means "King-person" and is a compound of aran ("king") and the (mainly masculine) name-suffix -wë ("man", "person").[2]
