Ardamir (Q: "Arda-jewel", pron. [ˈardamir], stem Ardamír-) was the second child and first son of Axantur, a nobleman of Númenor. His great-nephew Hallacar would marry Tar-Ancalimë, the first Ruling Queen of Númenor. Though he left descendants, nothing of their lives was recorded.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Ardamir is a Quenya name. It means "Jewel of the World". Ardamire (or Ardamir) was the mother-name given to Eärendil, the son of Idril and Tuor.[2] Paul Strack suggests it means "World-jewel" and is a comppound of arda and -mir ("jewel").[3]
