Bar-erib was a stronghold of Dor-Cúarthol some leagues south of Amon Rûdh.
History
The stronghold of Bar-erib was one of the many guarded camps and fortresses that were established around the Echad i Sedryn, the capital of Dor Cúarthol. Bar-erib was located within "the once fertile land between Narog and the Meres of Sirion". It was said that the summit of Amon Rûdh could be seen from Bar-erib and commands and messages could be received through signals.[3]
Etymology
Bar-erib is a Sindarin name meaning "Dwelling of the Lonely Ones", derived from a combination of the elements bâr ("home, house, dwelling") and erib ("single, alone, lonely") (pl.).[4]
