Battle of Rôs
From Tolkien Gateway
The Battle of Rôs was a great battle between Elves and Orcs, Dwarves[note 1], Gongs and a few evil Men, according to the early version of the legendarium in some of the outlines for the continuation of The Book of Lost Tales.[1][2] No full, detailed account of the battle is given, as it is only mentioned passingly in the Lost Tales.
It took place near the promontory of Rôs in the Great Lands during the Faring Forth, and ended in disaster for the Elves (both for those already living in the Great Lands, and the Elves of Tol Eressëa who came to their rescue), who afterwards went into hiding and eventually ceased to be visible to most Men.[1]

Notes
- ↑ At this early phase of the legendarium, Dwarves were overwhelmingly portrayed in a negative light.
