Battle under the trees: Difference between revisions
(Thank you for taking an interest. I assumed it was under the command of Khamúl, due to Appendix B stating this in 2951. I realise this time spent with power over Dol Guldur, possibly didn't last to 3019, and the time is ambiguous and unspecified) |

The Battle under the trees was a conflict fought on March 15, the T.A. 3019 forming part of The War of the Ring.[1] It was fought simultaneously to the second assault on Lórien, a battle also fought against the forces of Dol Guldur.
Prelude and The Battle
Dol Guldur had recently become active[2](possibly under the power of Khamûl, it's former commander)[3] under the service of Sauron. On 11th of March (4 days prior) Dol Guldor had sent a force of Orcs to Lórien. [1] It failed, though acted as the first of three assaults.
On the 15th of March, The Battle of the Pelennor Fields took place in Gondor.[4] Not soon after it's end, Orcs were sent from Dol Guldur to Lórien and the Woodland Realm. The Battle took place under the trees of Mirkwood when Thranduil's realm was invaded. There was a long battle under the trees and a great ruin of fire. In the end Thranduil had the victory and the Elves of Mirkwood had won. [1]
At the same time, Orcs were sent to Lothlórien a second time and once again failed the assault. [1]
Aftermath
A third assault on Lórien was made on 22 March and ended the same as the others. On 28 March Celeborn took Dol Guldur and Galadriel laid it bare. [1]
On April 6 Celeborn and King Thranduil met in the midst of the forest and renamed it Eryn Lasgalen "wood of green leaves". Celeborn took the land south of The Narrows for himself and named it East Lórien, while Thranduil took all wood north of the Mountains of Mirkwood, and they gave the middle of the wood to the Beornings and Woodmen.
