The Birthday Party usually refers to the great celebration held at Hobbiton on 22 September T.A. 3001, in honour of Frodo's 33rd birthday and, especially, Bilbo's 111th. It was after this party that Bilbo departed the Shire, and passed the Ring to Frodo his heir.
