Calimmacil was a Gondorian nobleman.
History
Calimmacil was the son of Arciryas, and therefore a nephew of Narmacil II (T.A. 1684-1856), the 29th King of Gondor.
Calimmacil had a son, Siriondil, and a grandson, Eärnil.
Nothing is known about the life of Calimmacil, who enters history because after King Ondoher and his sons were slain in battle, his grandson Eärnil was chosen to succeed Ondoher to the throne.[1]
Etymology
Calimmacil is Quenya. It is not glossed, but as Paul Strack explains, it probably means "Bright Sword", from calima ("bright") and macil ("sword").[2]
