Do we really need such a broad category? Even Fire-drakes are included! --Narfil Palùrfalas 15:58, 13 May 2006 (EDT)

Our categorization of real-life people, and Eä locations, is much better right now than our categorization of individuals from the legendarium. We really need to sharpen up this category a lot! I suggest to start with merging with, or more clearly define how it relates to, Category:Races. For example, an individual elf is now categorized as "Category:Elves". However, this supercategory is found within Category:Races, not Category:Characters. So, what do we do? Do we create "Category:Elven characters" + "Category:Elven peoples" (the problem with this is that we would sort of need double subcats for everything, that is "Cat:High-elven characters"+"High-elven peoples")? Any suggestions? --Morgan 18:30, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Something I'd really like to see, is a place on TG where you can have an overview of all the characters Tolkien created for his legendarium. Concerning such "collection"-lists, we have some different solutions on TG: for locations, we have the Index:Locations. For real-life people, we have Category:People by name. What do we do for characters? --Morgan 18:36, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
My suggestions:-
  1. Category:Races just has articles on individual races.
  2. Category:Characters is properly subdivided by race and/or location.
  3. A Index:Characters (I definitely want this) and/or Category:Characters by name. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 15:11, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
