Deeping-stream in The Lord of the Rings Online

The Deeping-stream was a river in the west of Rohan.

Course

The Deeping-stream flowed from the gorge on the northern side of the White Mountains known as Helm's Deep through a culvert in the Deeping Wall that blocked the entrance to Helm's Deep, then around the feet of the rock where the Hornburg stood, before flowing to the north into the Deeping-coomb and then out into the Westfold Vale. South of the bottom of the coomb the Deeping-stream ran beside the Deeping-road. The Deeping-road ran northeast, but it is not known into which river the Deeping-stream flowed. It is possible that if flowed northwestward into the river Isen, which is the nearest river from the northern end of the Westfold Vale. However, it is also possible that it flowed northeastwards into the river Entwash.

Etymology

The element Deeping in the name Deeping-stream means that the stream belongs to the deep, out of which it flows.

The Deeping-stream originates inside the Glittering Caves and forms a small pool with an island in the middle before flowing out through the Deeping Wall. After flowing into Westfold, the stream turns east and joins the river Swiftwater, originating in the White Mountains, before eventually flowing into Entwash.
