Matěj Čadil - East Wall of Rohan
The East Wall of Rohan was a sheer cliff on the western edge of the hills of the Emyn Muil where they met the grasslands of the Eastemnet on the east side of Rohan.[1][2]
The line of the hills ended abruptly in a steep cliff-face,[2] forming one of the borders of Rohan[3]. The cliff was not impassable: a traveller in the hills could pass down onto the plain using a ravine that cut into the rock.[2]
This was the route used during the War of the Ring by the Orcs that captured Merry and Pippin[4] on 26 February T.A. 3019)[5], and by the Three Hunters who followed them[2] at dawn the next day[6].
