Erethón[1] was a Galadhrim Archer and member of the Naith Company.[2] He fought in the Battle of the Hornburg.

Erethón is an original creation for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers film. He is portrayed by Alexander Lindsay.[3][4]

History

Erethón was a Galadhrim who lived in the Naith of Lothlórien. He was skilled with the bow and, at close range, his accuracy was uncanny. Erethón joined the Naith Company, a veteran group from Lothlórien's south, and gained the rank of Lieutenant.

When the Rohirrim, under leadership from Théoden King, retreated to the Hornburg in Helm's Deep, Saruman the White sent an army of over ten thousand Uruk-hai to assail them. When Lord Elrond of Rivendell and Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn of Lothlórien heard of this, they decided to honour the ages-old allegiance between Men and Elves. They sent a join force of Elves, led by Haldir, to assist the Rohirrim in their battle against the Uruks. The Naith Company was part of this force sent to the Hornburg.

The Naith Company were stationed on the front line of the Deeping Wall. As the Uruks reached the fortress, Aragorn walked passed the Elves of the front line, yelling "Show them no mercy! For you shall receive none!" in Sindarin. The battle commenced and the Company concentrated their fire on the Uruk war machines.

Ultimately, Haldir and every Elven reinforcement were slain during the Battle. Their efforts were not in vain, however, as the few Rohirrim left alive were able to hold out until Gandalf arrived with Éomer's Éored and forced the Uruks to retreat into the forest, where they were killed by Huorns.
