Summary[edit]

Kay is seen here with Vera Chapman, the Founder of the Tolkien Society. They were good friends and Kay illustrated some of Vera's stories for Weathertop, Amon Sûl Smial's magazine. The photo was taken in the early 1980s at the beginning of the Oxonmoot weekend at the Turf Tavern, the oldest drinking place in Oxford (founded 1381), where registrations were held at the time.
