Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Frodo and Sam sleep, the Ring clasped safe in Frodo's hand.
Gollum lingers nearby, whispering to himself "We must have the precious!" He proceeds to argue with Sméagol, who claims that Frodo is their friend. Gollum tells Sméagol he is a liar, a thief, and a murderer. Sméagol is anguished at this and tells Gollum to go away. Gollum scoffs, saying the two of them survived because of him.
